Heliogabale is looking for a label to help us release the new material we're working on right now. And a booking agent as well. And cash. Or people who know about that pact with the dark forces we've heard about since Led Zeppelin's first vinyl came out. But a small label with great ideas (how about some fucking vinyl ?) will do for a start. Get in touch with us, my friends...
Heliogabale started in 1992.
Influence back then : Sonic Youth/Birthday Party/Silverfish.
Yolk, the first album has been recorded in 1995 within a few days (as for every material the band has released) & was mixed by Iain Burgess, who also engineered the following mini-album : To Pee in 1996.
Then, still aware that a Verse/Chorus structure would lead too easily to wealth and fame, Heliogabale released the off the beaten track 72 minute long The Full Mind Is Alone The Clear recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini during the summer of 1997. Self-produced.
Heliogabale finally signed on prohibited records (NLF 3, Don Nino & Berg Sans Nipple) in 1998.
Disliking the idea of repeating themselves, Heliogabale decided to put aside their demo two months before the recording session of their new album to be engineered by Al Sutton (Don Caballero) and introduced electronics. As a matter of fact, Mobile Home came out in 2000 and is their most pop opus, featuring Eugene Robinson from Oxbow.
After ten years of indie involvement, Heliogabale released Diving Rooms in 2004, where the guitars have obviously kicked off the sampler.
Self-produced and recorded in Paris, it shows in a perfect way the electrical, luminous and visionary aspect of the band.
Right now, they are busy working on some new material (looks like a double album!! is on the way). No gig for the moment.
We'll let you know.
Cheers.
